Beyond Basic Needs

AHAYFS houses are safe places for youth to be, where they can live without judgement. We take a strength based approach that recognizes success is determined by the individual.

Stronger Together

AHAYFS is a leader in the community, offering support and services in Coquitlam, Maple Ridge and Surrey. We work closely with community partners like Pacific Community Resources Society, the RCMP and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Live Independently

For AHAYFS, success is about helping each individual achieve their goals, build healthy relationships and adopt lasting attitudes as they transition to independence.

AHAYFS ACHIEVES INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION

AHAYFS has achieved national accreditation through the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA). It took AHAYFS 12 months to achieve accreditation.

Organizations pursue accreditation to demonstrate the implementation of best practice standards in the field of human services. COA evaluated all aspects of AHAYFS’s programs, services, management, and administration.
COA accreditation is an objective, independent, and reliable validation of an agency’s performance.

The COA accreditation process involves a detailed review and analysis of an organization’s administration, management, and service delivery functions against international standards of best practice. The standards driving accreditation ensure that services are well-coordinated, culturally competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, and provided by a skilled and supported workforce.

COA accreditation demonstrates accountability in the management of resources, sets standardized best practice thresholds for service and administration, and increases organizational capacity and accountability by creating a framework for ongoing quality improvement.
To achieve COA accreditation, AHAYFS first provided written evidence of compliance with the COA standards. Thereafter, a group of specially trained volunteer Peer Reviewers confirmed adherence to these standards during a series of on-site interviews with trustees, staff and clients.

What We Do

Founded in 2016 by Jane and Evelyn, AHAYFS is a residential care provider that delivers safe, judgement-free housing and support to some of the most high risk and vulnerable young people in the Lower Mainland.
Today our trained staff provide 24 hour outreach services within our homes, individualized care plans, life skills programs and access to medical support and continued education. Our 6 residential facilities maintain a high ratio of staff to youth, with capacity to add more staff as necessary.
By encouraging young people in our care to engage in their own well-being, we nurture a sense of belonging in their families and communities.
